Fans for Friday

We were very excited this morning when Seef brought in a fan for everyone in the class! Each one had a place from Malaysia on it and we really needed them because today was HOT. Thank you Seef!

We spent the afternoon making our Bird Feeders. We wanted to make the school environment more attractive for birds and also wanted to do some recycling, so we painted plastic bottles and then attached string, perches and cheerio treats for the birds. Have a look for them around the side of our classroom.

My little Monsters

This week has been all about the book "Monster's Lunch".

We read and discussed it as a class, we listened to it on the Ipad (get the audio here Link to audio) and we drew our own ideas for what could go in Monster's Lunch.

This afternoon we made our own monsters out of shapes and they are terrifying!

We also welcomed a new person into our class this week - Zac! We love his smile and have enjoyed getting to know him. Welcome Zac :)

Week 6 - Full of fun!

Week Six was just as busy as the previous week and we were very excited to welcome two new people into Room 19 - A big welcome to Juliet and Lillian. You have been so happy and slotted into our routines so quickly.

We have started looking at Shapes in Maths and went for a shape hunt in our classroom - there are so many out there when you start looking! Make sure you look at our shape pictures on our wall too.

We are working on our inquiry and answering the question "How can we make our school a more safe and attractive environment?" We are making it safe and attractive for the native birds in our area and this week Juliet bought in some pine cones, so we made Birdseed feeders to hang around our school. Keep and eye out for them!

On Friday, we explored the process of baking bread. We learnt about yeast from a non-fiction book in our class and used the contents to help us find information. We were fascinated to watch the yeast activate and learnt all about the conditions that yeast enjoys. We even wrote our own recipes. Our bread rolls were all funny shapes but tasted delicious!

And finally - here is a clip of us grooving along to Go Noodle! We do Go Noodle exercise videos on Friday when we don't have Jump Jam. Each video we complete gets us points. Banana, Banana, Meatball is one of our favourites!

A Book Extravaganza!

Today, all of Brooklyn School dressed up as their favourite book characters. There was such an amazing selection of costumes in our room! Thank you everyone for putting in such an effort into your outfits. I think we looked amazing!

There was a parade of costumes through the top playground with the whole school and Room 19 had a great time showing of their outfits

Make sure you come and have a look at our Book Week door - We imagined that we had been transported into our favourite books. Alice did some magic and shrunk us so we could go into our stories!

Have a great weekend everyone!

A busy week 4

This week we started using our Ground, Grass, Sky handwriting frames. They help us to place the letters on the line correctly. Some of the letters we have learnt like 't' start in the sky and go into the grass. Others, like 'r' only live in the grass.

And handwriting is heaps more fun when you can write on the windows!

Our swimming is really coming along - it is so great to see improvements each week.

This week was all about the letter P! We had great fun on Wednesday afternoon making Popcorn. We heard the POP of the popcorn and thought it was pretty tasty.

Super Swimming and Radical Robots

Wednesday was jam packed with activites.

We went Swimming and Joy, Henry and Jago had their first lessons. They all did really well and have now been put in groups like the rest of the class.

Then in the afternoon, we worked in teams to make Robots! We are learning the letter R in phonics and loved creating Really Radiant, Responsible Robots. I was really impressed withe how well the children cooperated and helped each other out. Ka Pai!
